Price it as they choose

A price on every step that updates with each choice.

1. A price field on every step

   Open the form in steps (here the Custom Cake Designer from Build an order in steps) and add a currency field labeled Price. In its Settings, switch Show on every step to Yes, so the price stays in view the whole way through.

2. Write the price logic

   In Form Logic, choose Write as text. Under on update, which runs whenever an answer changes, switch picks the base price for the size: Price = switch(Size, "Serves 8", 45, …, 0). Then adjust it a line at a time with result: a wedding cake is a quarter more, red velvet adds $15 and fondant $40. Under on load, enablefield(Price, "no") makes the price read-only.

3. Check and apply

   Choose Check to make sure it reads right, then Apply.

4. The size sets the base

   Open the form. The price is on every step: a wedding cake that serves 30 is $200.00, $160 plus a quarter.

5. Extras add on

   Choices with extras add to it as they’re made: red velvet and fondant bring it to $255.00, before the customer reaches the end.
